The landscape at Fazenda Mandacarú is very diverse, typical of the Brazilian cerrado (savanna). At the Fazenda the respect for nature is essential, not only because of its beauty, but also because we need it for our survival.

Fazenda Mandacarú is one of the few properties in the region where nature is preserved for the most part and where great stretches of original forest can be found. Trees and plants at the Fazenda Mandacarú are only cut or harvested where necessary. Paths and trails for walking and riding are largely created by restructuring existing paths from the former land owners.

The surrounding farms have all disforested their land for raising cattle and the production of charcoal. Recently farmers are being stimulated by the Brazilian government to use their lands for sugar cane and soja plantations for biodiesel, which means that more and more large pieces of nature will be sacrificed.
Visitors will receive information about the flora and fauna in the area and the ecological agriculture. Regularly guided hiking and horseback tours are made with information about the animals and plants.

Each year we organize youth vacations for children and young people of the Escola Capoeira Berimbau the Ouro in Montes Claros. Most of them never go on holiday and are hardly ever out in nature.
